Cardno is experienced in the delivery of major infrastructure and capacity building projects in the international development sector and engages high calibre team members for projects in the Asia Pacific region and throughout the world. Cardno’s physical infrastructure teams have a reputation for quality planning, design, delivery, and execution, producing financially viable feasibility studies and business cases, comprehensive technical advice, thorough environmental and social safeguard policy operationalisation, and effective project management and construction supervision. Our current infrastructure portfolio includes projects across a range of sectors with a historic focus on transport infrastructure, but continues to evolve in areas such as water supply and sanitation as well as buildings and facilities.
Cardno has operated in developing countries for over 50 years. We work with government agencies and multilateral organisations throughout the world and engage leading professionals across a range of disciplines to address poverty, economic and social disruption, and institutional strengthening. We have delivered over 700 projects in various sectors across Asia and the Pacific including Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Myanmar, Indonesia, Fiji, Tonga, Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Sri Lanka. Our development assistance projects include those funded by the ADB, the World Bank, DFAT (Australian Aid), MFAT (New Zealand), UNDP, DFID and USAID.
The role
Due to recent program successes, and as a part of our growth strategy, the International Development Physical Infrastructure (ID PI) team has undertaken a strategic review of our approach and delivery of social and environmental safeguards implementation & supervision, impact assessment, and ESG due diligence. Our team is committed to Cardno’s purpose of making a difference, and we are seeking social and environmental specialists to join our team who are as committed to integrity and excellence as we are.
We are seeking expressions of interest from people with experience in the international development and infrastructure sectors who are interested in working with our highly dynamic and passionate team. Consultants based in the Pacific who have experience as National Consultants are also very strongly encouraged to apply. We are keen to hear from international and national practitioners with experience in donor infrastructure projects in the Asia Pacific region, either for short term assignments or with an ability to undertake long term placements, including:
About you
Your experience may include ADB, WB, DFAT and/or DFID funded programs in the Asia Pacific region. Our forecasted pipeline requires that you have experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects in remote locations as part of a diverse and international team. You understand how to communicate messaging about safeguard principles to engineers, Government agencies, and affected communities. You will have relevant and related qualifications equivalent to your specialisation and sector. While your commitment to social and environmental protection, safeguard compliance, and clear communication underpins your practice, your outputs, documentation and deliverables are consistently clear, concise, and fit for purpose.
