The opportunity! 

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Team Leader. The successful candidate will work with our QLD regional operations team from our Sandgate Office (flexible work arrangements currently). We are seeking someone with at least 7 years’ experience in the environmental consulting industry with strong industry client connections and professional networks.  The successful candidate will lead a team of environmental and ecological specialists, coordinate the delivery of complex projects, and help grow our Queensland regional environmental services. 

We’re flexible on location: 

Sandgate, Queensland or discuss being work from home based with us (flexible work arrangements are currently in place with COVID-19). 

Requirements to be successful: 

  • Tertiary qualifications, a degree/undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification, preferably in ecology, biology, environmental science, environmental management or another relevant qualification in a directly related field.  
  • Experience and commitment to participate in business development activities. 
  • Excellent team leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and delegate team scheduling, resourcing, quality assurance and mentoring team members on the technical aspects of their role. 
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge of local, State and Commonwealth legislation relating to the environment in QLD, particularly the Environmental Protection Act 1994, Vegetation Management Act 1999, Nature Conservation Act 1992, and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth). 
  • Provide specialist advice on environmental matters including for compliance obligations. 
  • Strong connections to the marketplace and ability to bring in work from your own industry connections.  
  • Leadership skills and a willingness to provide mentoring to team members.   
  • Deliver and/or coordinate the delivery of ecological survey and/or environmental assessments for projects in a wide range of environmental and development settings. 
  • Preparation and review of Environmental Factors/Impact Assessments and Management Plans. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team of professionals. 
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, conceptual, communication skills, including technical report writing. Strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills to establish and maintain a core customer base. 
  • Proficient experience with using GPS and DGPS, tablet and laptop computers, smart-phones, digital cameras, and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in field locations and a willingness to travel is essential. 
  • A full current driver’s licence . 
  • Construction Industry White Card and current First Aid certificates (desirable).
