Nationally, the SLR team provides a wide range of closure planning, closure cost estimation, project management, environmental assessment, approvals and environmental management services across a variety of sectors. Services range from project scoping, to impact assessment, environmental management compliance, auditing, risk assessment, rehabilitation and closure planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Job tasks and responsibilities:
Based in Brisbane, as a member of our Environmental Assessment & Management Team, you will assist project managers to deliver projects as well as having the opportunity to coordinate your own.  The team is currently managing several large closure and rehabilitation projects with a great pipeline of work for you to be involved in.
You will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing valuable support to the senior project management team for large projects as well as taking responsibility for smaller projects
  • Working closely with a Principal Consultant in Closure Planning & Environment including large projects for tier one clients, projects for government, etc.
  • Generating mine progressive rehabilitation and closure plans, risk assessments, estimated rehabilitation costs for Queensland and rehabilitation cost estimates for NSW and other relevant reports
  • Developing effective relationships with our internal and external clients and internal SLR team members
  • Providing advice regarding best practice mine rehabilitation and closure planning and management principles to clients and internal SLR team members
  • Delivering the best possible outcome for clients with a quality focus
  • Being flexible and agile on project requirements and have excellent multi-tasking ability


Skills and experience:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, or another relevant degree
  • 4-8 years' experience at a professional level, ideally as a consultant, or with previous roles in government or industry
  • A clear, concise, and professional writing style
  • Experience in Microsoft suite with a high attention to detail
  • Adaptable and fast paced working style with the ability to manage multiple deliverables on time critical projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team

Additionally, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Environmental Impact Assessment and Approvals experience would be advantageous to your application
  • Experience in the resource industry
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Queensland approvals and QLD and/or NSW environmental legislation and policies, standard and guidelines (mining, roads and/or water infrastructure)
