Ecology and Heritage Partners Pty Ltd is an established consultancy with highly experienced ecological and cultural heritage teams. The company specialises in ecological and cultural heritage projects throughout Australia for a range of Government agencies and corporate clients. We currently have offices in Melbourne, Geelong, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual who wishes to further develop their experience and skills as a botanical consultant, and the position provides excellent prospects in an established, but growing business for the right person. This position will be based in our Melbourne office primarily as part of our Victorian operations.

We also welcome more senior candidates with at least 10 years' experience to apply, as we will consider you for any senior roles with the Company.

This position requires you to have botanical / ecological experience, particularly in regards to the design of detailed field investigations, having excellent plant identification skills, familiarity with Victoria's flora and ecosystems, a working understanding of Victoria's permitted clearing of native vegetation - Biodiversity assessment guidelines, and the ability to communicate this information, both verbally and in highly technical reports, to our clients.

To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably a degree or post graduate degree in environmental science (botany, ecology), natural resource management, or related discipline.
  • A minimum 5 years practical experience undertaking field based botanical surveys, preferably in an ecological consulting capacity.
  • Knowledge of, and how to apply, environmental legislation and government policy such as the EPBC Act and Victoria’s Permitted clearing of native vegetation - Biodiversity assessment guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare ecological reports such as impact assessments, targeted significant species surveys, policy development, and the preparation of Conservation Management Plans.
  • Ability to manage projects and willingness to learn quickly, and a demonstrated high level of professionalism.
  • Other non-technical skills required include excellent communication skills, high level of computer literacy, and ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
  • You should be prepared to work flexible hours, including when conducting botanical field surveys, and be willing to travel to field locations throughout Australia.
  • Current manual Victorian Drivers License and capacity to work outdoors essential.
