With the continued success of our heritage team, we are looking for an enthusiastic Heritage Consultant to join our talented team in Regional NSW (in either our Mudgee, Armidale, or Newcastle offices).

About the role:

The position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the best multi-disciplinary consultancies and develop technical and professional skills in a supportive team environment. The role will involve working as part of a team in the preparation of archaeological and heritage assessments, undertaking field survey, archaeological excavation, research, report writing and project management.  We will provide you with opportunities to further broaden your expertise while being supported by our team of approachable experts.

About you:

We welcome applications from archaeologists and heritage professionals with experience in Aboriginal archaeology and heritage.

To be successful you will also have:

  • An honours degree or higher in Archaeology involving studies in Australian archaeology (preferably from an Australian university)
  • Practical, working knowledge and understanding of the Heritage Act 1977 and the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974
  • Experience in managing archaeological survey, field assessment and excavation
  • Previous consulting experience (3+ years as a guide)
  • Experience in the preparation of archaeological assessment reports and heritage assessment reports
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal people including community consultation
  • Sound communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others both internally and externally
  • Sound writing and time management skills
  • Experience in project and budget management and the preparation of fee proposals
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations for field projects when required
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions, and sometimes in remote areas
  • A baseline level of physical fitness and agility that will enable your participation in field work in a variety of climates and terrains
  • A current driver’s licence.

And it would be great if you also had:

  • Exposure to GIS applications and/or a demonstrated understanding of spatial data analysis and applications.
