EIANZ invites you to attend an upcoming webinar presentation by David Karoly, CSIRO Climate Science Centre who will give an update on climate change and its ecological impacts.
The latest assessment of climate change science from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change IPCC was released on Monday 9 August. Climate change is already affecting Australia and our ecosystems, as demonstrated by the Black Summer extremes of 2019-20. David will talk about how climate change has led to observed changes in temperatures, rainfall patterns and some extremes across Australia, as well as some observed ecological impacts. David will also talk about the future changes that are locked in.
Meet the Speaker:
David Karoly is a Chief Research Scientist in the CSIRO Climate Science Centre. He is also an honorary Professor at the University of Melbourne. He is an internationally recognised expert on climate change and climate variability.
David was Leader of the Earth Systems and Climate Change Hub in the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program, based in CSIRO, during 2018-2021. He has been involved in the IPCC Assessment Reports in 2001, 2007, 2014 and 2021 in several different roles. He was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2019.
