In this webinar Dr Stephen Phillips will the discuss the devastating mpacts of the 2019/20 bushfires on koalas.

This webinar will provide an update on the current conservation status of koalas across NSW and Queensland, with particular emphasis on the impacts of the 2019/20 bushfire season, longer-term implications (and likely conservation requirements) for the species.

Meet the Speaker

Dr Stephen Phillips | Principal Associate at Biolink

Dr. Stephen Phillips is and amongst other things a specialist koala ecologist with more than 40 years of experience with koala conservation and management. He is a former member of the NSW Koala Recovery Team and the Commonwealth Government’s Expert Working Group on koala Distribution and Abundance. His Ph.D. focussed on tree selection, habitat modelling and koala socio-biology, and he has published widely in the peer-reviewed literature on various aspects of koala ecology, including habitat / population assessment techniques, as well as authoring numerous local and landscape-scale Koala Plans of Management.
