Join the Victorian Division of EIANZ for an informative presentation an EPA Update. The passage of the Environment Protection Amendment Act 2018 in August 2018 was a historic moment in EPA's history. For the first time since its commencement in 1971, they will have completely new legislation.
The new Act will give the EPA stronger powers and the ability to issue tougher penalties for environmental offences from 1 July 2020. It also provides a framework to become more preventative, with the cornerstone of this being the introduction of a General Environmental Duty (GED). The GED will apply to any person or company conducting an activity which poses risk to human health or the environment from pollution or waste. It will be supported by the introduction of numerous tools the Authority can use to provide guidance for managing environmental risks.
This presentation will provide a summary of the Environment Protection Amendment Act, the GED, and other duties that fall under the new Act and what this will mean for industry.
Seminar speakers
In order for the EPA to tailor the presentation to the attendees we have set up a survey to help find out what areas of the new EP Act you are specifically interested in.
