Palmerston North Event | Using Cultural Impact Assessment to align visions: a case study of port recovery and development in Whakaraupō / Lyttelton Harbour

Dyanna Jolly will reflect on the experience of using Cultural Impact Assessment (CIA) to facilitate iwi/hapū involvement in the recovery and development of Lyttelton Port, following the Canterbury earthquakes. CIA is used in plan-making and resource consent processes to articulate priorities and aspirations, assess potential effects, and identify processes, provisions, and outcomes required to align port company and mana whenua visions for the future of Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Harbour. This presentation is designed for planners, social scientists, geographers, engineers, and those wanting to understand CIA and its uses in today’s development and environmental processes.
