Field Trip: Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)

The SEQ Division of the EIANZ is proposing a professional development event comprising a one day field tour of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).

The proposed program contemplates:

  • a cultural tour with Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation visiting natural features and a discussion of the impacts of mining, tourism, fishing and other uses of tribal lands, working with traditional owners and the new fire management program;
  • visit to a Sibleco sand mining rehabilitation site; and
  • visit to University of Queensland’s Moreton Bay Research Station.

The likely cost will be between $180 and $250 per person for a full day. The price will be inclusive of transportation (including boat to the Island and bus on the island), morning tea and lunch.

Subject to comments from interested persons, it is proposed that this field tour take place in the second half of 2019 (outside of school holidays).
