2020 SEQ Division Mentoring Program

Published 18th December 19 12:00 AM

The Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand (SEQ Division) Mentoring Program is managed by the Student and Early Career Professionals (SECP) Committee. Professional mentoring is a powerful tool for students and early career professionals alike. The workplace is a challenging and new environment to navigate and the right choices are not always clear. Our young leaders have fire in their bellies and energy to affect change. For early career practitioners in particular, a positive mentoring relationship can promote confidence, inspire passion and stimulate career growth.

The SEQ SECP is passionate about mentoring, learning and growing as an institute through information sharing which can be driven through this mentoring program.

The aim of these guidelines is to provide a framework for the basis on which mentors and mentees participate in the program. Each mentor and mentee pair will communicate, interact and achieve their mentoring program goals differently – in the way that best suits each pair. The 1 year program is intended to facilitate, not restrict, the participation of mentors and mentees in the program. We also encourage participates to continue their mentoring relationships after the close of the 1 year formal program.

Mentors and mentees are paired following an online survey, which aims to create mutually beneficial partnerships. Participants are also provided with detailed program guidelines, which provides a framework for their mentoring journey. The program is structured to ensure flexibility as no two mentoring partnerships are the same.

The program includes three formal events where guest speakers are invited to discuss topics relevant to professional development. The events provide great networking and learning opportunities for mentors and mentees alike.

Please join us by registering here and also complete our survey to get to know you.

This event will be continuing in the current COVID-19 situation. Our first event will be held via a webinar and mentors and mentees will be encouraged to meet via phone or teleconference until further notice.

Investment

  • There is no charge for mentors.
  • The investment for mentees is $95 for members and $150 for non members - this includes 3 events plus the program.

What did our 2019 mentees think?

I've enjoyed being a part of the program and felt Lauren has given me great guidance on getting my foot in the door. She even introduced me with the consultancy who has since employed me and I'm now working in my ideal position within the industry. I plan on doing the program again in 2020. Daniel Light
