Victoria Pearce MEIANZ has invited EIANZ members and guests to a professional training workshop on Heritage first-aid for first responders after fire or flood.
The talk by Victoria Pearce, who is the Director and senior conservator, is aimed at people working at sites where there may be heritage significance and heritage artefacts affected by disaster. The presentation will cover the types of material often found scorched, soot, smoke or water damaged. It will cover WH&S, artefect collection, cleaning, storage and how to prioritise.
This will include hands on and a demonstration on up-to-date methods of first aid to prevent small damage becoming irreversible. Suitable archived materials or household available substitute materials will be covered to enable safe practical solutions for field work.
Communities often call in professionals for assistance and the task can be overwhelming. This talk will give you flow chart of action to take with a list of support services available.
