Join the ACT Division for an event facilitated by Professor Andrew Campbell featuring authors Rowan Reid and Charles Massy who will be exploring transformative futures for agriculture and the rural landscape followed by Christmas drinks.
Meet the speakers:
Rowan Reid is a forest scientist with over 30 years’ experience as a researcher, lecturer, extension agent and, most importantly, tree grower on his own farm. In his latest book, Heartwood: the art and science of growing trees for conservation and profit, he provides real examples and sound science in support of a radical new approach to both forestry and Landcare. He demonstrates the potential to profit from harvesting timber and other tree products could provide a driver for landscape renewal.
Charles Massy runs a sheep and cattle property in the Monaro. His concerns about land degradation and humanity’s sustainability challenge led to his current book: Call of the Reed Warbler: A New Agriculture – A New Earth which explores transformative and regenerative agriculture and the vital connection between our soil and our health. It is a story of how a grassroots revolution – a true underground insurgency –can help to save the planet, build healthy people and healthy communities thru our relationship with growing and consuming food.
