The call for nominations is now open and we are seeking candidates for all seven Board positions: President, Vice President Australia, Vice President New Zealand, Treasurer, Secretary and Ordinary Board Member (x2).
Serving on the EIANZ Board provides a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally, develop skills, gain valuable experience and make lasting connections with a team of other passionate environmental professionals. As a Board member, you will help drive the decisions of the Institute and shape the environment profession in Australia and New Zealand.
We are looking for experienced, driven, passionate collaborators to serve on the Board for the next 2-year term. The EIANZ Board functions best if it brings together a range of opinions, experience and skills and when it is gender-balanced with good geographical representation from around Australia and New Zealand.

Frequently asked questions
Who is eligible to vote in the elections?
Current financial Ordinary (Full) Members, Fellow Members, Honorary Fellow Members or Honorary Life Members of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand Inc. Student and Associate members do not have voting rights. To check the status of your membership, log in to the EIANZ website and go to 'My memberships'. The voting roll closes on 5 September 2017. Only members who meet the voting criteria on this day are eligible to vote in the election.

Who can endorse a nomination?
Nominations must be endorsed by two current financial member with voting rights. To check the status of your membership, log in to the EIANZ website and go to 'My memberships'.
How much time is involved in being a Board member?
On average, Board members should anticipate spending 5-10 hours per week on Board matters. In a typical year, and at a minimum, Board members are expected to attend approximately 50 hours of meetings. Most meetings are held via teleconference at lunchtime on a week day.
Will there be any travel?
Yes, there will be limited travel. Typically, two full-day face-to-face Board meetings (8 hours each) are held annually - one at the time of the Institute’s Annual Conference (October). Other travel may be involved for Institute matters, depending on the position and Institute priorities. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Are Board positions paid or voluntary?
All Board members serve on a volunteer basis, however expenses incurred in undertaking their role (such as travel) are reimbursed.
Do Board members receive any support in their roles?
Yes, EIANZ Central Office supports the Board. Specific administrative functions are delegated to Central Office by the Board, including the administration of finances, membership, communications, major events support and delivery of Institute-wide programs. Central Office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
