NGERS Presentation

On Friday 5 August 2011, EIANZ Victorian members were given the opportunity to attend a workshop with the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE) to discuss the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (the NGER Act) and its application to the 2011-2012 Reporting Period.
An opportunity was also provided to ask the Business Outreach Team diriect questions about applying the NGER Act. You can download the NGERS Presentation from our website.

ENVI Industry night

On the evening of Wednesday 31st August, EIANZ Victorian committee members Gordon Young (SEP coordinator) and Michael Lambden represented EIANZ at the 2011 Bachelor of Environments Industry night run by The Environments Student Society at the University of Melbourne(ENVI).

The EIANZ, alongside 21 other businesses, professional associations and government departments, talked to dozens of students about careers in the environment profession including the opportunities and the challenges. The evening was a huge success and helped to provide an excellent platform from which students could be introduced to all relevant industries.

Environmental Effects Process Parliamentary Review
Parliament has reinvigorated their review of the EES Process and invited the EIANZ to submit comment. We welcome your feedback. Details can be downloaded from our website.

Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act (FFG Act)
The EIANZ is keeping a watching brief on any announcements from the DSE or Minister for Environment on possible changes to the FFG Act.

Carbon Price
The EIANZ Victorian Committee is currently drawing up a position statement on this issue. Contact Victorian EIANZ if you are interested in contributing.

State Government review of the Victorian Climate Change Act
As seen in the news over the last week or so, it is widely believed that the State Government is preparing for a full review of the Victorian Climate Change Act 2010 . This review will involve a public consultation and it's essential that environment professionals are heard. We will keep you informed...

National Carbon Offset Standard Review
The Federal Government has released for comment a discussion paper on the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) and a draft revised NCOS. Submissions are due on Wed 12 October 2011. Further infromation is available at Government climate change website
