Nigel Murphy has a career spanning more than 25 years in the environmental sector. He has a background and qualifications in environmental and earth sciences. He has provided technical advice to companies, government and the aid sector in environmental science and environmental management. His expertise is in managing and delivering complex environmental and social assessments. He has worked on assignments in Australia and New Zealand and also in parts of Asia, the Pacific and Africa.

Nigel is a Founder and Director of Earth Systems an environmental consulting and technology company that was formed in Melbourne in 1993. He served as Vice President of the EIANZ Victorian Division in 2000 - 2001, and was on EIANZ Council for almost nine years from 2001 until 2010.

Nigel championed the development of EIANZ’s Certified Environmental Practitioner Scheme (CEnvP) and was foundation Chair of the Scheme from 2004 to 2014. He has also been instrumental in establishing the Steps Program, the Institute’s professional development program for early career environmental practitioners. Nigel chaired the working group launching the Program’s Foundation Year in 2014.
