Bill Haylock FEIANZ CEnvP

Bill Haylock has a strong commercial background consulting to the exploration and mining industries on environmental management. As a graduate in biological science and natural resource management, he began his career working in the public sector for the Northern Territory Soil Conservation Service where he pioneered good practice environmental management in mined land rehabilitation. Over 25 years, he built and then sold Environmental and Licencing Professionals (ELP), one of Australia’s prominent environmental consultancy groups, and developed the renowned Muddy Boots workforce environmental training programs.

Bill played a pivotal role in re-forming the EIANZ SEQ Division. He brought a business approach to the activities of the Division, and assisted in the development of a successful business model that has been adopted by other EIANZ Divisions. From 1998 to 2004 he served as Vice-President, President and Councillor for the SEQ Division.

In 2004, Bill’s focus shifted to the EIANZ Executive Committee and Council where he initially served as Vice-President, and then from 2005 until 2011 as President. On the 20th anniversary of the EIANZ, he championed the development of a strategic focus on the future of the environment profession. He supported the establishment of the EIANZ Certified Environmental Practitioner Scheme. He established EIANZ awards that recognise outstanding achievements in the adoption of good practice environmental management by companies. As Immediate Past President, Bill continued to serve on the EIANZ Executive Committee until 2013.

Bill Haylock has continued to contribute to the EIANZ by serving as a member of the Certification Board, where he has championed the implementation of a specialist certification for environmental practitioners working in the field of contaminated land. Bill has been recognised in the EIANZ as a Fellow Member, is a Certified Environmental Practitioner and has received the Simon Molesworth Award.

Bill was awarded Life Membership of the EIANZ on 3 November 2016.
