The NSW EPA has formally recognised the Contaminated Land Specialist CEnvP certification, along with the Site Contamination Practitioners Australia Certification, as providing a thorough process for certifying contaminated land consultants.​

By 1 July 2017, any report submitted to the EPA to comply with the requirements of the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997 (CLM Act) must be prepared, or reviewed and approved, by a certified EIANZ CLA Specialist CEnvP or SCPA practitioner.
