Note from the President:
NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
As 2011 draws to a close, I reflect on the passion and drive of our members and our unharnessed power to
influence Government policy. To date, the new liberal Government are not exactly trail blazers when it comes to
environmental protection, and in my view, need all the support and encouragement we can provide. I encourage
you to speak up and share your views with us, or more broadly in your professional circles. In order to
facilitate robust discussion on Government Policy, the EIANZ have developed a Policy sub-committee which
needs your expertise, views and opinions. Please email me with your ideas on what policies need to be
addressed and your contact details if you wish to be involved, ehurst@globalskm.com .
In the meantime, I hope to see you at our New Year drinks and tour of the Pixel Building in February which is FREE
for members.
Thank you very much for your support and a Happy Xmas and very Safe New Year!

The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand Victorian Division would like to thank you all for
your support over the last year. We wish you, your family and loved ones a joyful Christmas
and a safe New Year. May it be full of happy times!

Australia State of the Environment Report
The fourth national Australia State of the Environment Report was launched on Monday 12 December.
Australia State of the Environment 2011 has built on the usual descriptive summary of evidence provided in previous
reports to include graded ‘report-card’ style assessments of environment condition and trends, pressures and
management effectiveness. It also includes discussions of the drivers of environmental change, resilience,
risks, and future projections or ‘outlooks’. The report can be accessed at
www.environment.gov.au
Environment Victoria’s Audit of Baillieu Government Election Promises
After one year under the Baillieu Government, Environment Victoria have assessed the delivery of the new Government’s
election promises on the environment and also assessed significant actions taken that were not foreshadowed prior to
the election.
