An Environmental Profession for the Future
In 2012, the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand celebrates 25 years of
supporting environmental practitioners.
Celebrate with us as we recognise the environment profession’s achievements over the past quarter of a century. Join your colleagues and help us to reflect on what we have done well and why; what we could have done better and how and the challenges that lie ahead.
Most of all we invite you to build your skills and our profession so that we can be ... Stronger, Wiser and Bolder!
Message from EIANZ President, Michael Chilcott
Who would have thought when EIANZ formed in 1987 that 25 years on there would be the diversity and number of environmental practitioners operating across all industry sectors – mining, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, waste, health, transport, tourism, hospitality, medicine and superannuation to name a few? And that we as practitioners would be tackling issues as complex and diverse as food, water and energy security, climate change, defence, global biodiversity conservation, corporate sustainability, and increasingly, resources extraction?
The issues facing environmental practitioners are broader in scale, more complex and more than ever the pace of change seems faster and the need for action more urgent.
In addition to celebrating our past, this conference will explore:
• The skills needed to make our profession more robust, vigorous and influential.
• Learning from past successes and failures and identifying how we need to adapt to ensure future success.
• Sharpening communication skills to speak out messages with confidence and authority.
Come celebrate this milestone in the development of the environment profession and in the history of EIANZ.
