The SEP Action Plan - As part of tour ongoing efforts to assist students and those new to the environment profession in preparing for employment and excelling in a new role, the Vic Students and Early Professionals Sub-committee has developed an Action Plan designed to create strong ties with universities and employers, and equip students and early professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to excell. A copy of the Action Plan can be accessed by emailing vic-syp@eianz.org.
Why does the network exist? - The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) services a number of chapters/divisions in Australia and New Zealand. Victoria is covered by the EIANZ Victoria division, which is run through an Executive Committee. The Executive is responsible for the overall implementation, monitoring and review of the Division’s Goals. The current EIANZ Victoria division vision is to:
“Sustain the environment through excellence in environmental practice”
The Executive Committee is comprised of subcommittees, one of which is the Students and Early Professionals subcommittee. The specific role of the SEP subcommittee is to:
“Provide students and young professionals within the environmental profession with opportunities to further develop professionally”.
The SEP Subcommittee is a small group of dedicated environmental SEPs who assist with operationalising the goals and vision of the division in relation to students and young professionals.
Who qualifies as an SEP? An environmental STUDENT is any person who is a student, irrespective of age and studying or interested in environmental matters.
An environmental EARLY PROFESSIONAL is any person, working in any aspect of the environment industry, who has less than 5 years of working experience
