Professional Development Committee
The aim of the professional development committee is to provide opportunities for members and environmental professionals to gain knowledge, better understanding and up-to-date best practice for professional and personal development in accordance with the vision and mission of EIANZ.

This Committee is responsible for:

• Assisting in the development of a structure for the advancement and delivery of a competent practice program for professional environmental practitioners;
• identifying the requirements of competency for the various levels of experience within the Institute, from students and graduates through to general and specialised practitioners;
• providing guidance as to the content required for the various levels of experience and speciality; and
• assisting SEQ Division, Standing Committees and Special Interest Sections to deliver the competent practice programs.

Committee Chairperson
The committee is under the direction of a chair elected at the annual general meeting and maintains that position for 12 months ordinarily. The chair is requested to assist in the transition of new office holders and committee members to ensure that knowledge is passed on to others. As the chair it is expected that attendance will be required at the SEQ Executive Meetings to present, discuss and disseminate information regarding professional development.
A co-chair may also be elected to assist in supporting the chair in the delivery of items and assisting in general tasks, meetings and communications where requested.

Committee Members
Committee members are volunteer positions and it is expected that the core committee members will serve a minimum of 6-12 months. The time commitment would involve a few hours each month with the committee and preparation of items outside of committee meetings. A greater commitment of time may be required at peak periods such as seminars, conferences, training days and other events. Additional support may be requested from time to time including assistance in the search for training materials, venues, research, set up and shut down of events, preparation of materials and communication to the chair and committee on emerging issues.

Event Volunteers
Assistance by non-serving committee members is required throughout the year for those who can only commit a portion of time or to assist in particular practice area events. Additional support may requested from time to time including assistance in the search for training materials, venues, research, set up and shut down of events and preparation of materials.

Mentors and Liaison Officers
Former committee members and specialist practice area liaison officers provide an informal role to assist the chair, committee and its function and delivery of professional development operational areas. The ongoing support from former serving committee members and other professional EIANZ members is an integral part to the history of the institute and the development of future direction of training in the environmental profession.
