The NZAIA-EIANZ Award is funded by the Dianne Buchan Environmental Trust. Dianne is a social impact assessment (SIA) and community engagement specialist. She started the Trust in 2012 with the aim of providing funding for training and awards for outstanding impact assessment practice. Dianne’s vision is to promote excellent practice that provides for both environmental and community outcomes. She is active member of both the New Zealand Association for Impact Assessment (NZAIA) and the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) and both organisations are delighted to have been chosen by the Trust to promote these awards.

Purpose of the awards
To encourage excellence in the practice of impact assessment in New Zealand.

Award categories
Award 1: best practice in impact assessment
Award 2: innovation in the use of tools or methods for impact assessment practice

Who are eligible for the awards?
The work must have been undertaken by a New Zealand based legal entity, individual, group or organisation and completed in the prior 12 months to the submission date of award. The award recipient will be the actual author (individual or group of individuals) not an organisation or commercial company.

Important Dates
26 July 2012- announcement of the awards
1 February 2013- applications open and application documents available for download
31 March 2013- applications close at 5pm
1 July 2013- judging completed
TBC- awards ceremony and media release of winners
