External Relations Committee
The External Relations Committee promotes the Institute to the wider community, specifically by highlighting the role that environmental practitioners can play in our transition to a more sustainable future.
The Committee supports the President in his role as principal spokesman for the Institute, and takes a lead in drafting submissions to public inquiries and responses to public reports that are relevant to the Institute’s aims. We undertake a few of our own initiatives each year, such as preparing the Blueprint for the Future, and writing to Australia’s political parties prior to the Federal election last year on what we believe Australia’s environment needs from its next Government.
The ERC meets by teleconference 4-6 times per year, and conducts business in between times via email. Committee members would contribute a couple of hours each month to the Committee, with peak periods of activity being more demanding for those Members who are closely involved.
The current membership of the ERC is: Patrice Brown (Chair), Alastair Buchan NSW, Angus Robinson NSW, Claire DeLacey NSW, Brett Thomson SEQ, Charmian Barton NSW, Cheryne Sneyd SEQ, Darryl Patching SEQ, Diane Dowdell WA, Donna Audas FNQ, Jason Hick WA, Jennifer Scott NSW, Lestar Manning SEQ, Lisa Bambic ACT, Nick Aiken NZ, Paul Barnard VIC.
Institute members who have an interest in engaging environmental leaders in government, business and other professional bodies, would be very welcome to join the Committee.
